The other detail you may take in during character creation is how primitive and ugly these characters can be, this also goes for almost the entire world as well. The textures look good, pretty darn good actually, but they are applied on bland models with little definition, or at least not enough definition to go along with the texture details. The hair options are an exception to this rule, they\'re just bad altogether. Blocky cardboard cutouts of hair that have no real good look to them what so ever. Character creation is one of the hardest things I found to do in the game, it\'s just hard to feel satisfied with your look when your first instinct is to go find a hat or helmet of some kind.
Once you enter the game you\'ll know what keys do what rather quickly, if you\'ve played World of Warcraft anyway. Otherwise the HUD is labeled fairly well for those who are new to the game. The game will also give you a tutorial level of sorts where you are all alone in your own instance, learning how to: fight, move, use items, and level. This is a decent idea to do for new players, but if you\'ve played before, you just want to skip this, and an option to do so would be outstanding. Do you hear that Turbine, that option would be outstanding. Hint hint nudge nudge, we all created save files just before the end of the sewer in Oblivion for a reason.
Once you\'re done with your little alone time instance you are booted into the same starting areas as all other newbies. This area was bristling with people when I was out and about, and it was rather nice to see other players. This first town is a starter town, you\'ll do a few quests and get a few levels out of the way so that you\'ll get a good idea of how to handle the game in this area. There are quests, shops, trainers, and most everything you\'ll encounter out in the "real world".
As you go about this first world, you\'ll become familiar with the mini-map and radar in the corner of your screen. The one thing I liked about this, is not only will it show you where you can end a quest, but also where you can pick some up. This would be downright super handy, if it wasn\'t for the fact that the icons are exactly the same. You might think this isn\'t so bad, but you\'ll change your mind quickly. You see, when you start out into the real world you\'ll be assaulted with quests, and I mean assaulted. You start out with the option of having 40 quests max, and you\'ll use a good plenty of them the second you step out into the real world. There were just too many times I wanted to find the end of a quest and go to bed, but there were so many little ring icons on my mini-map I had no idea where to truly go.
